Well, I guess most of you know this band called Coldplay...and maybe you also know their new single called 'Strawberry Swing'. Given the fact that this is both a graphic design & music blog, I found great pleasure when I have a topic in mind that combines both.
So the song sounds good to me (maybe you'll like it even more) but I think the video took it to a whole other level! I don't know if that happens for th first time in a music video (I saw something similar some weeks later but in much poorer execution) but I guess that doesn't matter much. The point is that the result at the whole video is simply amazing!!
However I cannot miss pointing that when I was searching for the video to post it here, the official Coldplay youtube page was saying that this video is a property of EMI and it's not available in your country. The same stupid thing over and over again...However I think I found a decent version for you! Enjoy!

Design in jail
I was reading "Ipovrihio" the other day, a free press magazine I'm subscribed in, and that article really caught my attention. Ok, it may took me ages to write it but as I'm through with my college for the year I finally have the time. Well title says it all...design in jail. Sereal designers was the office that did that and I can say I was at least excited with the idea, the process and the final result.
In a few words the thing was something like this: Sereal designers together with ΚΕΘΕΑ (organization that helps people addicted to drugs go to rehab and start again with their lives) organized this project with was designing a big part of one jail wall. The project had to be done not only from the designers but mainly from the women who were in jail (and of course wanted to take part), all for accusations related to drugs.
I'm borrowing a pic from the site of the magazine just to give you an idea. You can find that pic and the whole article of the magazine by clicking here, so the rest of the comments is yours. I just wanted to point out that I found it very pioneer for our country and I loved the result. I may found it interesting for another reason, too: I know exactly how liberating the whole process is.

It was a blast!!!
The good thing in our design college is that we get a great range on graphic design fields so as to see and understand what is that interest us the most. I always felt a great attraction for the typography tricks, and through that a great interest in the brand identity field.
Why am I saying all these? Well, I started descovering the design offices of the foreign (the greek ones will folow, too, I attended Design Walk the past 2 years and I think that our country should be proud of our designers) and the first one I'm about to present is aiming in the branding field.
So ladies and gentlemen, this is Blast from London! The website structure didn't help me to enclose some inages in this post, so discover it yourself by clicking here!

Diary of (my) dreams
When it comes to music things are complicated sometimes. There are artists that you like, know some of their songs and that's it..You never search a little deeper.
Well, at least that's what happened to me with Diary of Dreams..until yesterday when I saw them live. I really liked them and I want to know more of their songs, the older ones and the ones that many people don't know.
I was impressed by the band's appearence because I saw 5 people who were really enjoying it up there, not because they were 'the stars' of the night, but because they were giving us a good time. They were grateful, and I know that they meant every single word when they were thanking us.
And..ok, I know, many of you are designers and don't really are into this kind of music, so I'm going to invite you here to see their artworks.
I don't know what are you thinking of them, but I rate them 6-7/10. I like the concept that looks like a movie, with the black rectangles up and down but the pictures are predictable enough when considering the name of each album. However i like some of them more, like 'One of 18 angels'. (speaking exclusively about the artwork).
I want to close this article with a video from yesterday, and please check it out..I'd be glad to know that you listened to it, even though you may not be into that kind of music.

This blog has an identity!!
Hello to all!
I am very happy as this afternoon was very creative for me!I made a flyer for a handcrafts exhibition that we're organizing in the recent future and of course I made a logo and a banner for this blog! I think that it wasn't fair for this blog to have my name...It's just a part of myself, but it sure has a personality of its own!
So I now introduce you Sight & Sound!! The banner says it all, this blog is discovering the Design world along with me, and of course the Music world, too! I hope you'll enjoy your stay here and you'll feel the need to visit regularly! And of course I'd like to hear your comments about the logo!
CU soon!

Handwritten Logos
Most of us (the designers), when we have to do a logo we go to Illustrator, we type the letters and then we begin to put them upside down, move them in and out, higher or lower, or we seek the perfect idea to transform them into something that will help people understand what the logo is about. I don't say that's a bad approaching (and who am I to judge?) and more often than not the result is really impressive. After all, most of us do the work on paper first.
But what do you think of handwritten logos? Can you bring in mind something? I'll help you out with that.

Yes, all of these are handwritten, and it couldn't have been other way, as the 3 of them were created back then when PCs didn't exist. We don't know when the Paul Smith logo was created, but it definately is by hand. And here's a small "secret" for you: that's not Paul Smith's signature, that logo, simple and spotaneous as it is (or as it seem), was cretaed by one of Smith's friends. The Disney logo created back in the 1940s, the Kelloggs' in 1906, and the Cartier before 1888. So the older of them lasted for a century, or even more. How these directors resisted the temptation to use a modern design in their products? Is that the recipe for success?
One thing is sure, an inspired solution is always successful, either that is by hand or by a computer, and an inspired solution has to do with the idea mostly. However it's obvious that handwriten logos can be more playful and seem more personal.
